About Amber Baker and

Fur Kid Photography

Greetings, animal lovers! I’m Amber Baker, and I’m the owner/founder of the fabulous Fur Kid Photography.

I’d love to tell you all about my pet photography passion, and maybe even a little bit about myself.

You need to know who you’re working with, right?

I’ve been photographing animals since I was a little girl with my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles camera. It printed a little Ninja Turtle on Every.Single.Photo. The amount of printed photos of my childhood cat is borderline creepy. 95% pet photos, 5% less important things…like my family.

My journey into the professional world of pets didn’t actually begin with photography. I’m also a professional dog trainer. Crazy Dog Lady. I went to school for several months at the Starmark Academy (formally Triple Crown Academy) located outside of Austin, TX, and even stuck around for the advanced training.

So why add photography to my canine career?

His name is Stoney, and he’s my reason for becoming a trainer and now a photographer. Check out his page and you’ll understand my inspiration, motivation, and dedication to pet photography.

Random Amber Facts:

1. I’ve lived in Indiana, Ohio, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Texas. This country has so many beautiful locations, how can anyone decide on just one! 😉

2. I currently have three canine fur kids, but I have lived with nine large dogs in a tiny duplex. My friend and I had a problem, and that problem was dog rescuing and rehoming. We can’t save every dog, but we can certainly try.

3. I was the nerdy valedictorian of my high school and have a currently useless BA in Psychology. That degree is the most expensive piece of paper I have, so expensive that I’ll be paying for it….forever.

4. I used to live alone (with my Rottie), isolated, off-the-grid, in a cabin, on a mountain, with an outhouse, a wood stove, an outdoor shower, and no electricity.

4a. I got into digital photography because all of my film photography equipment was stolen out of said cabin!

5. Before getting into world of puppers, I had a variety of jobs ranging from managing an improvisational comedy troupe to a 911 dispatcher. I used to help save people’s physical lives, and now I save them by recording and preserving their most precious memories.

6. I just cut off most of my hair. I’ve had long hair my entire life, but it was time. This is a just a warning until I get new photos of myself for the website. 🙂

7. I may or may not eat babies.
